The Cottage Disabled/Wheelchair facilities

The ground floor of the cottage has been designed to allow access for disabled persons and persons in wheelchairs. All 3 bedrooms have a 1500mm turning area and are furnished with queen size beds, have remote controlled lights, remote controlled fans, also touch turn on/off bedside lamps so there is no need to get out of bed to turn on/off lights etc. Linen is also supplied. The Kitchen has been designed for simplicity. More that the minimum 1500mm turning area. The refrigerator is an upside down model with the freezer at the bottom and the electric cooker is an upright cooker with the controls in the front for easy operation. The dining table can seat six persons plus the breakfast bar.
The hallway to the bathroom and bedrooms is 1200 wide with a 1500mm turning area at the bedroom doors. The bathroom has also been designed with grab-rails to assist mobility impaired persons. The shower floor has no lips or steps and therefore if required you can wheel into the shower from 3 sides There is a rain-head shower plus a handheld shower that can be operated from the wall bracket or held in the hand. The vanity is mounted above the floor to allow the feet of a person in a chair access to the vanity. All light switches are mounted 1meter from the floor and power points are 500mm from the floor. Entry to the ground floor of the cottage is via the pathway from the Park Rd front gate or there is another entry from Merton Road that has a sliding gate and gentle ramp from the footpath to the ground floor entry. When the ground floor is rented separately to the upper level there is a door that closes off the internal stairs giving complete privacy to both levels.
