The locals tell us that this cottage was the local Music Teachers residence and music lessons where conducted in one of the bedrooms. Apparently her son became an internationally famous pianist. (Name unknown)

The Cottage at 110 Park Rd was built as a 2 bedroom Workers Cottage around the beginning of the 1900's. This type of construction was very common for that time. As seen in the pre 2000 photo the cottage was coated with cement render over the weatherboards. This idea was sold to owners to save the owners from having to strip the paint of the weatherboards each time they wanted to paint.

The renovations

The main concept of the renovations was to maintain the Character of the original Workers Cottage designs. This required the removal the cement render that covered the original weatherboards, and  keeping the original JV timber internal wall and ceiling linings and all new work to maintain this theme throughout including the polished timber floors (upstairs only). Window hoods of the period needed to be installed so as they represent the style that was common for that period. 

To make all this viable required that the existing cottage to raised by 1.1 meters allowing us to build in at ground level. One of the most significant features of the ground floor level is that it is very modern but has the old style charm. Also the design has included assessable accommodate for disabled/wheelchair persons and their careers.     

The cottage is situated very close to transport both rail and bus and is walking distance to the well know Southbank restaurant district.

Being only a very short walk to Mater Hospital, Mater Private Hospital, The new Children's Hospital & the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PA) is an advantage for families that require accommodation close to these facilities.
